The phrase “there’s a time for everything” feels cliche, but really it’s biblical. In the book of Ecclesiastes chapter, three verse one says, “to everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:” Maybe this verse has been paraphrased so much we’ve finally arrived at the general conclusion that there is a time for everything.
Time passes, and over time, so much life happens. Children are born, jobs are taken, hearts are broken, bills are paid, maybe some are not, the list goes on…so does life. We are living out plans God has for us or plans we have for ourselves in every moment. The best years of our lives are when our plans become His.
Our verses for the day made me think about all of the mighty and magnificent ways God can use the time of our life to give us the time of our life! (reread it, if you need to) Mary’s obedience to becoming Jesus’ mother was a social risk and could have impacted her impending marriage to Joseph. What outweighed the risks was the favor she would have with God. So at the right time, in the most awkward and challenging way, God blessed the world through the womb of a woman.
I pray that if you’re unsure of how or when God will come around to bless you, I challenge you to think about what you’re anticipating. He might have a plan that requires your trust and physical and momentary discomfort for a greater, godly reward.
Remember, everything happens in its due time.
“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
