The prophecies announcing the coming of Jesus Christ were announcing the arrival of a king! Not only a king but the King! What a joy!
In the ever-changing world, we live in, democracies are born while dynasty’s die, and from generation to generation, people seek leaders to help them govern their lives. As spiritual beings, we know that God puts government leaders in place for His purpose to bring glory to Himself on Earth and to accomplish His plans in Heaven. After a contentious election season, it is imperative for those of us who are in America to remember that the kingdom of Heaven – the kingdom of God is B I G G E R and B E Y O N D and more E S S E N T I A L than any governmental power we know of on Earth.
The scriptures in Psalm echo today. Who is the King of glory? For people awaiting a Savior, someone to bring salvation to them, the answer was Jesus. But let us not be mistaken. The answer for us should still be Jesus. He is our King, born in a manager and sitting on the right hand of God. He is strong and mighty. He is worthy of being praised, in Heaven and on Earth. I love this advent series because we’re analyzing why Jesus needed to be born and how we still need Him thousands of years later.
Who is our King? Jesus! The answer is always Jesus! Praise be to God He reigns forever.
Psalm 24
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face. Selah
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah
